Amazon’s free app of the day is one of the things that really got the alternative market up and running. When the Amazon Appstore was first launched, you could find some amazing paid apps for free, and blogs were gobbling it up.

Android Market rating system now available to developers

If you remember a little while back, roughly one week ago, we ran a story here at DroidDog about how the Android Market would soon see a new ratings system implemented by Google. Well starting today, that ratings system is now available to app developers via the developer console.

To hear some people tell it, Android is for porn. And while that’s certainly not the case, it has become a challenge to browse wallpapers, themes, or even apps without stumbling onto some thrown together collection of sexy images or other Market entry that shouldn’t be seen by younger eyes.

Android Market: new features

We heard about Google’s intention to overhaul the Android Market interface way back in May at Google I/O, and it looks as though the work is done, ready to be revealed with the release of Android 2.3, Gingerbread. Artem of Android Police received some information from an Android developer this morning, and changes to the Market app publishing interface disclose the coming features. High resolution app icons, featured graphics, and even promotional videos (via YouTube) will now be options–possible requirements–for Market entries

Android Market officially hits the 100k mark

At first glance, this may come off as slightly confusing, as this isn’t the first time the Android Market has been rumored to hit 100,000 apps. Back in July, AndroidLib announced that the Market had reached the 100k mark
