Gmail for Android updated, mostly benefits Honeycomb tablets

Android users on Ice Cream Sandwich have benefitted from a better Gmail app, but Google isn’t leaving users on previous Android versions behind. A new update is now available for the app via Google Play, and it brings many goodies. Honeycomb users benefit the most, receiving the same UI as the Ice Cream Sandwich version.

Android distribution charts updated, Ice Cream Sandwich only claims 2.9%

It’s always interesting to see the lastest Android distribution charts, and we’ve now got the newest one. Android 2.3 Gingerbread still leads the way at a whooping 63.7%, a 1.7% increase from last month’s 62%. Next up is Android 2.2 Froyo, with 23.1%, a number that is surprising considering most devices have been updated to at least Android 2.3.

HTC ThunderBolt for Verizon now free on contract

The HTC ThunderBolt has been out for awhile now, and there have been plenty of releases of higher-end devices since then.

Archos Smart Home Phone available for purchase in the UK

Last year Archos announced that they would be launching a “smart” home phone running Android. It features mid-range specs, and includes a 3.5-inch screen with a resolution of 272 x 480, 1GHz OMAP processor, 8GB of internal storage with a microSD slot for expansion, and is all run by Android 2.2 Froyo.

Samsung Captivate for AT&T finally receives Gingerbread update
